Background & Overview

As a youth, Jorn was a street urchin in the towering city of Astarte Ruk. An Archon caught Jorn stealing a garzan fruit from a merchant in the bazaar and sentenced him to the arena. There he labored in the fighting pits until coming of age, and won his freedom in a so-called liberty crucible, ultimately defeating a deadly Xyrrthi. Now he lives outside the shackles of the arena, and Astarte Ruk’s convoy, and seeks adventure as a means of survival in the harsh world.

Hindrances

  • Bloodthirsty (Major): Jorn learned in the arena, to take no prisoners.
  • Quirk (Minor): Jorn still can’t resist a juicy garzan fruit and will put himself in danger for the chance to eat one.
  • Boastful (Minor): Jorn must attempt to Taunt an opponent before attacking or receives –2 penalty to his first attack roll.

Edges

  • Gladiator: Jorn was born in the arena and once an encounter can temporarily gain (5 rounds) the benefit of any Combat Edge for which he meets the prerequisites.
  • Chitin Breaker: Jorn is intimately familiar with the segmented bodies of the insectoid creatures of Tarisia. He gains a +1 to Fighting and Armor Piercing when attacking bug-like creatures with a chitin covered body or shell, or any opponent wearing Chitin Armors. See CHITIN BREAKER.
  • Trademark Weapon (Xyrrthi-Urk):  Jorn is especially proficient with the Xyrrthi-Urk, a large serrated mandible weapon he fashioned from the carcass of his victory kill during the Liberty Crucible. He gains + Fighting and Parry when readied.
