Description
Known as the cherished of Taris, Fenn are small fox-like humanoids with exceptional speed and resilience. Fenn make up a large portion of Tarisia’s populace.
The smallest natives of Tarisia, Fenn average 3 feet tall and typically weigh between 40-80 lbs. Small in physique, with distinct fox-like features, Fenn are covered in long hair, ranging from off-white to dark tan, with hues of amber or burnt sienna in some individuals. They have a long, bushy non-prehensile tail, and they have oversized ears that help keep their bodies cool under the heat of the Twin Suns. Their proportionally large feet are covered in thick fur, which aside from making footwear hard to find, protects them from the stored heat of the sand, consequently most Fenn walk around barefoot.
Culturally, Fenn are deeply entwined in Tarisian politics and society. Born to large families, with litters of dozens of children, they are accustomed to large group environments, and although well suited to survival in the harsh wilds of Tarisia, are quite comfortable in the major city-states. Fenn have even formed large, mixed-ancestry dens that have gone on to become powerful trading houses or artisan guilds. The entire city-state of Den Ouluk is one such example, ruled by the Fenn Tarek.
Naming Conventions
Fenn are born into large litters as part of even larger dens and their names tend to evoke their fox-like qualities. It’s very common in Fenn culture for individuals of a litter to share similar names with only one letter or sound changed.
Examples include: Faris, Farin, Farik, Tarif, Terif, Taril, Kaida, Kaita, Kaina, and so on.
Characteristics
- Fleet-Footed: Fenn are naturally quick. They have +2 Pace and increase their running die to d8. This can stack with Edges.
- Leaper: Fenn can jump twice as far as listed under Movement and add +4 to Damage when leaping during a Wild Attack.
- Low Light Vision: Fenn are nocturnal by nature and accustomed to nighttime visibility conditions. They have no penalty for Dim or Dark conditions.
- Resilient: Fenn receive a +2 to Survival checks due to their natural resilience to the extremes of Tarisa.
- Small: Fenn are small compared to other Tarisian ancestries. Reduce their Size and Toughness by −1
- Weak Minded: Fenn are susceptible to the powers of the mind. They gain the Weak Minded (Major) Hindrance.
