The Tomb of Taris is the legendary prison of Taris, said to lie buried somewhere beneath the Creeping Wild of the Casshern Peninsula. According to the oldest traditions, it was here that the Old Kingdoms bound and imprisoned the Mother Goddess during the final years of the Age of Abundance.
Overview
Whatever once stood at the site has long since disappeared beneath the Wild. Ruined temples, shattered monuments, and ancient passages throughout Casshern have all been claimed as entrances to the Tomb, though none has ever been proven to lead to Taris herself.
The nature of the Tomb is equally uncertain. Some stories describe a vast subterranean prison built by the Old Kingdoms, while others claim Taris was buried beneath the ruins of ancient Casshern or bound within the earth itself. The faithful sometimes insist that no mortal structure could contain the Mother Goddess and that the Tomb is merely the place where the world was wounded deeply enough to hold her.
Despite the dangers of the Wild, cultists, relic hunters, sorcerers, and the desperately curious still search for it. What they expect to find varies considerably.
